NEW- Open Class Livestock Shows Postponed for 2018

No Open Livestock Shows are being held in 2018 except for Open Dressage as needed to share judge costs with 4-H Dressage in joint show to be held the weekend after the fair. The Lancaster County Ag Society is re-vamping its Open Livestock Shows for 2019 and is looking for your input! With 4-H/FFA shows not filling up the Lancaster Event Center's current space during the Super Fair, the Ag Society is taking a break from Open Livestock in 2018 to consider how to best revitalize the open livestock shows, possibly starting a Lancaster Stock Show at another time of year. If you have any ideas of interest in helpling, please contact the Ag Society at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or contact board members Ron Dowding, Kendra Ronnau, or John Cooper (call Lancaster Event Center at 402-441-1811 for their contact info). Board members will be available all week long at the fair and at the Exhibitor Breakfast on Sunday to hear your input as well!

All static exhibits are judged on the American System, not the Danish System used in 4-H and FFA. The American System places only one 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. place in each class regardless of how large the class is. Adult classes are awarded 1st–3rd place only and youth classes are awarded 1st–4th place. Special awards are given in some classes.

Grievance Procedures

The following procedure will be followed for any grievance (including judges’ decisions) in the open class areas:

1) All grievances should be discussed with the appropriate superintendent.

2) If a satisfactory resolution is not reached with the superintendent, protests should be stated, in writing, with the nature of the protest and issues involved, signed and submitted to the Ag Society Grievance Committee within 48 hours. This committee will act upon all written protests.

All decisions are final.
